Aaron Meshon
Brooklyn Heights, 2006
Acrylic on paper
You can hear the drawbridge warning bells clanking in this imaginative painting by Aaron Meshon. Inspired by Roebling, the white-coated bunny star of the Brooklyn Bunny webcam, Meshon created a larger-than-skyscraper bunny barging its way through the Brooklyn Bridge and up the East River.
His artwork fuses humor with introspective observations of the world around us. Known for his children’s book and map illustrations, his visual language is a diorama of imagery that will keep you discovering hidden iconography within each piece.
From illustrations to large-scale murals, The New York Times, Penn Stater, Kid Robot, and One Girl Cookies have commissioned Meshon. He is the author and illustrator of Take Me Out To The Yakyu, a children’s book that was on The New York Times Top 100 of 2013.
